Chefchaouen

Folded into the Rif mountains, Chefchaouen paints itself blue — every wall, stair and window frame — a tradition whose origins locals still debate over mint tea. The result is the most relaxed, most photographed medina in Morocco.

Wander without a map, cool your feet at the Ras el-Maa spring, climb to the Spanish Mosque for sunset over the blue rooftops, and shop wool garments and goat cheese you will find nowhere else in the country.
