What to Pack for a Morocco Desert Tour

After thousands of desert departures, we know exactly what travelers wish they had packed. Print this list and thank us at the camp.

The Essentials

• Layers — desert days are warm, nights are cold. A fleece or light down jacket from October to April.
• Scarf or shesh — sun by day, sand in the breeze, warmth at night. Buy one in the souk; your guide will show you how to tie it.
• Closed shoes for the camp and sandals for the dunes — sand at sunset is bliss barefoot.
• Power bank — camps have limited charging. This is the number one forgotten item.
• Small backpack — big suitcases stay in the vehicle; you carry an overnight bag to the camp by camel.

Nice to Have

• Sunglasses with real UV protection and high-SPF sunscreen
• Wet wipes and hand sanitizer (desert showers are basic in standard camps)
• A headlamp for the 2 a.m. star walk you will absolutely take
• Cash in small notes for tips and mint tea stops

Leave Behind

Drones (permits are complicated in Morocco), heavy laptops, and any schedule tighter than the desert's own rhythm.
